Then reboot Windows. Does that solve your problem?

downloaded and installed update seems to have fixed the problem thanks Robin

I had the same problem. It installed fine going to microsoft.com/genuine but
continued to fail with windows update. I had to do the following to clear it.
1. go to microsoft.com/genuine and under the heading Genuine Windows -
click on what is WVG notifications.
2. download the notification tool
3. do the automatic update
