WGA temporary fix
http://blogs.msdn.com/wga/archive/20...ce-outage.aspx

1) Delete the data.dat file from C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\Windows Genuine Advantage\data (The drive
letter will depend on where the OS was installed)

2) Revisit
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/dow.../validate.aspx to confirm
whether the machine is genuine.

3) Run wgatray.exe /b from the command line to ensure that the
latest validation is updated for WGA Notifications. This command may
be absent from the user’s machine and should not be considered an
error. Please ensure that this is run as an Administrator. A reboot
may be required to remove all non-genuine notifications.

This latest issue is fixable only on the ms end. It is a server issue,
not a client issue.

You may as well stop posting this to each thread where people[le are having
this particular problem. The fix doesn't apply in this instance.

Well people could still do 1 &2 and then wait till Tuesday to do
number 3. (Block wgatray.exe from accessing the Internet until
Tuesday). The bad think is they won't be able to install software
that requires WGA.

Greg

The links and fix you are posting are for a problem with XP. They have
nothing to do with the current situation with WGA.

So we are just suppose to forget and forgive Microsoft's stupidity
now?

It is long past the time consumers DEMAND Microsoft dump their broken
activation and snooping schemes.
