WGA Update problem (KB905474)

Hi!

Please, give me some hints how to overcome this KB905474 problem.

The update always stucks on an error "WgaNotify setup error X Access is
denied".

1. Send your browser to WGA Support at:
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/Support.aspx
and click through to Diagnostics, which might reveal some clues;

Thank you for the replies.

OK, I did get this problem solved by repairing the corrupted permissions for

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\LegitCheckControl.LegitCheck
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\LegitCheckControl.LegitCheck.1
and all their sub-hives, one by one

first taking the ownership for all of them for the Administrators' Group,
and then giving Full Rights for them for the Administrators.

This procedure wasn't too easy, because in the first place I didn't get them
even opened at all, but, after some different trials got a message having the
possibility to get in and change the permissions ... all this may have been
having something to do with the fact, that all this support case was just due
to a "light-level" Virus/Trojan infection on this macine.
