WGA Validation Failure

Hi,

Can someone advise me whether I am really running with an invalid copy of
Windows XP Pro or whether there's a problem with the WGA tool?

While on the Microsoft Update siten trying to verify whether automatic
updates had installed the laetst security patch, I was obliged to download
and run the WGA tool which reported that I have an invalid Product Key but,
when I printed the page, the PID reported was not the same as the PID
displayed on the System Properties General Tab. I don't know if I can quote
the full PID in this open forum but the PIDs differ only in that the next to
last group of digits is quite different, '2212167' as reported by the WGA
tool and '0012124' as displayed by System Properties.

The XP Pro CD appears perfectly valid with all the holograms, both front and
back, I have never lent the disk to anyone else, nor installed it on any
other PC, and Microsoft activated the Product after I installed it over a
year ago.

Right-click on your Desktop Internet Explorer icon and select:

Properties > Settings > View Objects, right-click on the
"Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool and select Remove.

Next, open "My Computer" and click on Help > Is This Copy of Windows Legal?
and click on "Validate Now".

You receive an error code and the copy of Microsoft Windows is
not validated when you try to use Windows Genuine Advantage to
validate your copy of Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;908440

The Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) validation check process
does not complete when you try to validate your copy of Windows XP
or Windows 2000 Professional
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;905226

You receive a "Validation Incomplete: Online Validation Failure" error message
or a "0x80080204" error code when you try to validate Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;906533

If the above does not resolve your issue, then:

Please use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of Microsoft Download Center
pages to request assistance directly from Microsoft:

Hi Carey,

Thanks for your reply.

I followed the steps you detailed but after selecting the Validate Now
option, I was redirected to a page with what appears to be Russian text on it
(http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/dow...b6779&Error=22).

There's an error code, 0x80080222, in the top right corner but it isn't one
of those you mentioned and I've no idea what the text is telling me.

Any other suggestions?

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools.
3. Click Internet Options.
4. Click the General tab, and then click Languages.
5. Remove any languages that you do not want to use for the Windows Update
site or click English, and then click Move Up to move English to the top of the list of languages.

I've done that but English (United Kingdom) is the only language in the list
