WGA validation suddenly not working with Windows Servers.

I wasted hours on a popup box message I got with Vista (business) saying
"You may be a victim of software counterfeiting" It could no longer get get
WGA to work for Vista (and probably Office) downloads. What was also
strange is the Aero interface was turned off.

Fortunately I came across the forum:-
http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/...3253&SiteID=25

Today (Aug 24/25) other people are having the same problem - even the Aero
turned off problem. It's not clear what the problem is yet. Must be
something with Microsoft Vista downloads. The last one that came across
today for me (at 4PM PST) was Update # 7.0.6000.381

What really annoyed me is that the Microsoft live interactive help line did
not know about this and I wasted time with them. Had to find out myself!

So if you have a sudden WGA issue let others know, together maybe we can get
the screw-up corrected quickly!
Anybody got any ideas?

I've been on the forums for about 5 hours straight now. I can't believe
nobody at Microsoft is responding to us.

You're assuming, incorrectly, that Redmond cares about their paying
customers. They don't as is evidenced by their ineffective and flawed
"anti piracy" programs that only serve to inconvenience paying customers
and do nothing to stop real piracy, which is a job for the legal
authorities, not Redmond's paying customers.

This is a peer-to-peer support group. This means that assistance comes from
other users like yourself. While there are a couple of 'softies that post
now and then, they do so on their own time and not as representatives in any
sort of official support capacity. Nor are there any guarantees of a useful
response from anyone. Official support should come through the support line
for your region, or from the system manufacturer.

I too was infected by the bogus WGA warning and disabling of features this
morning, 2007-08-25. My software is genuine as I got it directly from
Microsoft - I am a member of the Microsoft Partner Program!

If I can't resolve this problem easily I will do the following:
1. Restore my computer to an earlier date via Acronis True Image
2. Take a ride to the local Apple store and buy a Mac.
3. Advise my clients to buy Macs and/or load Linux on new systems.

I have had it with this crap! Microsoft is not the only game in town and
this overzealous, heavy-handed approach that screws up my computer because of
their mistake is the last straw after 26 years using, selling and supporting
Microsoft operating systems.

Yep, this is my position too. We have become totally dependent on MS
will this system and I don't like being totally dependent on anybody,
especially a big multi-national that has literally millions of customers
in the queue in front of me.

I had just decided to use Windows Live Mail Desktop for everything and
it quit working, then they decided to change it all around and that
worked for a bit then quit and then nothing and so I had to find an
alternative which is Thunderbird - enough like OE that most users can
get along fine with it and also works on Linux so that next time MS
decide to deactivate a customer's PC a 20 minute install and some simple
settings fixes their problem permanently.

HERE WE GO GUYS:

I just ended a chat with someone at MS Chat that at least could tell me that
the validation server is down.

My suspicion is that our software checks in with the server periodically and
that is why the problem is only hitting some of us.

Anyways, he said it would be fixed by Monday. But I totally agree with
everyone that this sucks a giant egg. I do not believe that my software use
should hinge on the operation of a distant server. I may be reading more
about Linux if something good does not happen.

You're an idiot! This is not a forum run directly by Microsoft...you did
know that, correct? This is a peer-to-peer help group.
But you like to intentionally mislead others don't you?
You're still just a fukkin liar and prove it every single day.
As*hole!
