What is the current version of Windows Live Messenger? I currently have
Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8064.206). Is this the latest version build? I
wish there was a "Check for Update" button we could click on the make sure we
are up to date. And, a "Automatically Check for Updates" feature would be
nice too. I try going to the Microsoft download page for messenger, but I
can never find the Version/Build number listed anywhere. Thanks.

14.0.8064.0206 is the latest build.

Microsoft Update on your computer checks for critical and other
updates. Update checks the following programs:

Windows XP and Vista operating systems
Outlook Express (Win XP systems only)
Windows Defender
Internet Explorer
Microsoft Office (2003 or later)
Windows Live programs, including WLMail & WLMessenger
(14.0.8064.0206 or later)

Provided you have enabled Microsoft Update, you should receive
important updates automatically, as soon as they become
available.

Hello,

Yes, that is the latest version. You can press "ALT+M" and uncheck
"Hide menu bar" (top right), then click on Help and "Check for updates"
to check every so often for them though.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hi,

Messenger's protocol automatically checks to see if your version is up-to-date each time you
sign in and will notify you as such.

There is no such option showing under my Help area, or anywhere else that I
can find.

Sorry, I was thinking of Windows Live Mail not Messenger. Jonathan Kay
is correct about how Messenger checks for updates.
