Whats happened to my comuter

My daughter was shutting down the PC. She says she cicked on something but
doesn't know what. Whatever happened my desktop background has disappeared
and when I try to change it I get a message saying this feature has been
disabled contact administrator.
Also Internet Explorer has reverted to an earlier edition.
Anyone got any idea what happened and how to sort it.

There is no earlier version of IE for Vista.

I suspect your PC was attacked by "SpyShredder" while she was using it. I
have the same problem but I know SpyShredder caused it. Unfortunately I
don't have a fix. The experts say system restore but that doesn't work for
me. I am still looking at black wallpaper and can't change it. I'm hoping
someone has an answer.

I assume you have searched the net for removal of this parasite, correct?
Google has hundreds of hits on this, just type in "SpyShredder".

Yes, I removed all traces of SpyShredder but how do I correct the damage that
it left behind?
