Robert, as I said in my post, I know this. That is not my question.
My question is WHY was it released and pushed out today? And since it is
only a recommended update WHY did it install and restart my wife's Vista
Home Premium x64 computer outside of the monthly update cycle? Don't you
think that was peculiar? This is what I am trying to figure out.
It looks to me like that should not have happened. Did MS goof? Obviously
the restart was because it updated a system file that was currently in use,
but I don't think that the whole thing should have happened in the first
place. This is why we have patch Tuesday. I'm trying to figure out if MS
set up the update incorrectly or if there is something about the update
cycle I don't understand or if there is something wrong with her computer.
I have my other Vista x64 computer set for Automatic download and notify
only and I don't have a notification icon on it at all. I had to run WU to
see it as a recommended update.
It annoys me that a recommended update would automatically install and
reboot a system outside of the expected update schedule that MS has assured
me they will stick to. Before I fire off a complaint, though, I want to
make sure I have this one right. Know what I mean?
