What's up with Update?

In a recent visit to Windows Update, my ActiveX controls were updated. Now
when I choose to do a "custom" search for optional updates and click the
updates from the sidebar, Windows Update reloads within my original Windows
Update window, only to get hung. Any advice?

Have you enabled discussions in Internet Explorer? If so, disable it.
View>Explorer Bar
Uncheck Discuss

Disable firewall and retry

You may need the latest scripting engine: Windows Script 5.6 for Windows
XP and Windows 2000

If you have BitComet installed, then disable the BitComet add-on for
Internet Explorer.
