Whats up with Windows Update?

I just went over there, to make sure my updates are all current and clicked
on 'Express' only to get a Error 0x80010105

Follow this article to reinstall the WU Client (note that the article mentions the old one
and not the new WU Client).
The Windows Update Web site and the Microsoft Update Web site do not scan for updates when
you repair a failed installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2 or of Windows XP Service
Pack 1

Note the new WU Client 3.0 - Windows Update Agent:

or for the 64 bit version

When I try to install the new WU Client I get an error 0x80070643.
I have tried installing in Safe Mode and I get the same error.

Any ideas please ?

Download Ccleaner and Dial-aFix

Note, uncheck Yahoos toolbar during install.

Do the scans with all the check marks on. in safe mode.

The first time you run CCleaner's Issues scanner you'll have to keep running
it back-to-back until it finds nothing.

One scenario is a registry key may only be a reference pointing to a
completely different location in the registry and when it's removed then that
reference link is also noticed as being invalid on a subsequent scan.

It's generally a good idea to keep running the Issues scan until nothing is
listed.

Run this program with all the functions activated in safe mode.

Scroll down about 2/3 of the way to Download Dial-a-fix

Reboot

Try yours update now
