When I attempt to use Windows Update, I get Error number: 0x8DDD0018 and it
tells me that I need to make sure the BITS and Event Log services are
running. These two services are running fine. I stopped and re-started
them, rebooted, still won't work. Are there other services that need to be
running that it's not telling me about?

Hi David,

Another item to check would be the Automatic Updates service......check to
ensure that its Startup type is Automatic (not Manual) and that the Service
status is Started.

Is the Startup type for the Automatic Updates service set to Automatic or
Manual?

Set the Startup type to Automatic. If it's set to Manual, it will result in
the 0x8DDD0018 error.
