Please could anyone help?

When vista shuts down I get a white screen just before Windows closes.
Although it doesnt affect Windows closing it is annoying and I dont know why
it has suddenly started to happen?

Please could anyone help to resolve this problem?

Thank you.

Hi,

So this a new happening? If so, then look to anything that you installed or
updated recently. Most likely, as it does not seem to be causing any harm,
it's some sort of splash screen from an application that's terminating.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes it is a new happening.

I did a system restore and it made no difference!

Hi,

I wouldn't expect it to unless the restore point was far enough back to
pre-date whatever is causing it. Start by disabling software that loads at
boot, and this would include antivirus/antimalware products.

I have tried your suggestions to no avail.

I have noticed it only happens intermittently.

I don't know if this has any significance?

Hi,

Probably means that some application that you use on occasion is not
terminating properly, and doesn't do so until you shut down.

What kind of machine is it?

I use a Dell D630, and for a short period I had a similar problem -
then one day the display failed completely. Apparently an overheading
problem in the NVidia graphics chip. A warranty call got a chap out
the next day who said he'd seen it many times before, he replaced the
motherboard, and all is well....

Different graphics chip then - so probably not the same problem (which
was caused by a defect in a batch of chips).
