'Just visited a site call www shapeofdays com which says it does a
demonstration of the upcoming new flash player. I added it to my Trusted
Zone [set to medium-high+ / protected mode ON as I have otherwise scripts
off] refreshed, clicked on the area for the video and IE7 froze.

Concerned, I ran a virus scan [ClamWin]

C:\Program Files\microsoft shared\VBA\VBA6\VBE6.DLL: Virut.set1.08 FOUND

It opens a backdoor. I guess I'm "owned" ?? TG my backup USB drive is
powered off.

*Sigh*

Oh that is what everybody wants to hear in this newsgroup. Wish you had
Ubuntu. That is why this group is called
microsoft.public.windows.vista.general !

Typical crap from the Ubuntu Marketing Department. Spewing crap again about
the TOY OS.

In about 5 years Ubuntu/Linux will have about 3.4% of the market! Everybody
rush to upgrade!

No, I wish people treated each other with respect. Writing and spreading
malware aimed at 'what-ever' platform isn't doing so.

P.S.

Oh well, the count is now up to 2. I've got two since 1996 - the other was
in 2001 when I ignored a warning to patch Windows 2000 when running IIS.

This time, even though I had a small suspicion, I decided there'd be no harm
in letting a JavaScript run. My bad. What concerns me though is that
Protected Mode is ON in the zone the page ran in .. I thought it couldn't
write outside certain folders. That's why I reported on this forum [yes, I
know it's not 'official'].

I'm glad I have the backup though.

Even Vista users need help :-)

Vista is a toy, not Ubuntu.

Vista is the best thing that ever happened to Linux. I predict that the
market share will boom the next few years and when you mention Vista,
people will giggle.

Further investigation shows that this *may* be a false positive. If so my
count goes back down to one in eleven years on Windows.

If you're against malware, why the H-E-L-L do you have Vista installed
on your machine? The malware writers do it for the same reason Redmond
does: money. Respect, in both cases, has *nothing* to do with it.

When you mention Linux/Ubuntu people say, "What the hell is that? I thought
