Why do I get chinese characters in SOME sent newsgroup posts?

If you want an illustration, take a look at the first "Re: Looking for
particular weather gadget" post appearing in this newsgroup about 20 minutes
ago.

Randomly (it appears) when posting to newsgroups, my posts have chinese
characters incorporated. If I reply to that post, the new post may or may
not show the characters as chinese - sometimes they are, sometimes they are
magically corrected back to what they were originally. (see the post which
replies to my own post mentioned above).

This sometimes happens when there is a series of >>> characters, which may
(or may not) be converted to assorted chinese characters.

I have already tried changing the character encoding in Windows Mail from
Mime to UUencode. That doesn't seem to have fixed it. I have Nod32 which
presumably scans outgoing posts. I wondered if that might be the problem.
I'm using Vista 64 Home Premium.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

John

John
I am having a similar awful problem with Vista 32's Windows Mail but my case involves emails. What looks like Chinese characters are inserted into my emails for SOME people only ie like a whole paragraph. Sometimes my own text is replaced with these. One time it was replaced with question marks instead.

Some people don't know what I am talking about because they don't see them but instead I see them in my part of the email when they reply. They were stunned when I made a pdf and a Word doc out of the emails so they could seee what I was talking about. The only other reference to this problem I have been able to find was in another forum where someone replied "we have had 8 reports of this in a year and can only suggest switching to Thunderbird".

I use this email for my home business so it is a serious problem for me. I have been using another computer each time I want to reply to a business email. Can anyone help before I lose my my mind? This has been going on for months. I can not find a Chinese font on my computer. Also a Chinese person said that SOME of the characters LOOK like Chinese. Here is a sample.
Thanks,
Tom
