Why Do the MS Fanbois LIE about Ubuntu?

Because that's all they have: LIES.

Ubuntu is free and comes with access to thousands of free programs. A
new version, Jaunty Jackalope, will be out on the 23rd of this month.
Get it at http://www.ubuntu.com/ Enjoy! Unlike Micro$lut, Ubuntu can be
examined by millions of programmers to make sure it's clean. With
Windows, only Micro$lut knows what they're selling you.

Here are only some of the very useful things that you can do with Ubuntu:

Email
Surf the web
Burn CDs.
Rip CDs.
Listen to music.
Watch vidoes/DVDs.
Scan and print.
Spreadsheets.
Presentations
Newsgroups.
HTML editing.
Games like Chess, Tetris, all kinds of solitaire, etc.
Make videos.
Download photos from a camera and organize them.
Translations.
Use a dictionary
Learn how to touch type with a touch typing program.
Edit images.
Send and receive a fax.
Take screenshots.
Create .PDF files.
Create and use a data base.
Instant messaging with over 10 different programs in one including
Windows Live Messenger.
IRC.
Bluetooth.
Torrent

and much more!

What you can't do with Ubuntu:

Worry about:
WPA and WGA raising their ugly heads,
DRM,
Viruses,
Root kits,
Spyware,
and
Malware.

On with the countdown

Alias claims Ubuntu can do quite a bit of things. He left out the
explanation of those things which I have completed to reveal the complete
truth about Ubuntu.

Basic E-Mails with maybe one attachment. Two or more will tax the system and
cause a crash.

> Surf the web

Yes, you can surf the web with Ubuntu.

> Burn CDs.

Simple burns, nothing complicated.

> Rip CDs.

If you are lucky.

> Listen to music.

You don't need Ubuntu to do this. Power up your iPod.

> Watch vidoes/DVDs.

You would be lucky to get this feature to work. It might but not for long.

> Scan and print.

The printer handles the scanning and printing. Ubuntu is just in the way.

> Spreadsheets.

Maybe you can add 100-200 numbers. Anything more complicated you need
Excel. Forget macros.

> Presentations

You can do presentations but stay away from Ubuntu. Nobody wants to hear
about Ubuntu.

> Newsgroups.

Where do you think Alias hangs out all day? Trying to shove Ubuntu down our
throats.

> HTML editing.

Hmmm. Editing software would work but the best products are on the Windows
platform.

> Games like Chess, Tetris, all kinds of solitaire, etc.

Yea, that is all the games Ubuntu will let you run. For the popular games,
you need Playstation, Xbox, Microsoft Windows, Ubuntu is a piece of crap.

> Make videos.

Very simple videos. For something worth while, you need Windows.

> Download photos from a camera and organize them.

BFD.

> Translations.

Yes - You need someone to translate Ubuntu into English. Good luck finding
someone other than a geek who can't laid to do this for you.

> Use a dictionary

The dictionary is on the Shelf. No need to use your computer for this.
Ubuntu would be heavily taxed trying this.

> Learn how to touch type.

Funny - A Keyboard and a book would let you do this. Ubuntu can't teach you
to type.

> Edit images.

Very basic and simple edits. For something more robust, Adobe on the
Microsoft or Apple platform would do just fine.

> Send and receive a fax.

This is what your pirnter is for. Ubuntu can't do this.

> Take screenshots.

Again, BFD. who needs a screenshot of Ubuntu? NOBODY does. HA HA HA HA

> Create .PDF files.

Adobe on Windows handles this very well. Ubuntu will choke on this.

> Create and use a data base.

Ubuntu doesn't create databases. Open Sores has primative software to let
you create a list and display it back. For real database creation you need
a powerhouse. Microsoft can handle the task very well. Look no further
than Microsoft solutions.

> Instant messaging with over 10 different programs in one including Windows

> Bluetooth.

Very primitive capabilities that sometimes works. Stay away if you need
your sanity.

Ubuntu doesn't run any of the software written for the Microsoft platform
and that makes that INFERIOR Ubuntu piece of **** useless to anyone using
Vista and Windows XP or Windows 7 but Alias just can't grasp that concept.
Too bad. Better stop smoking that WEED.

I suggest you get some. Maybe if you smoke a little weed you'll start
thinking straight again. That is, if you ever did.

I hate to disagree with some of what you say but I do not think that MS
really knows what they are selling you. Look at all of the service packs
and bug releases every week. They sold you those and did not know they
were there so how can the know what they are selling you.

To be fair you cannot run adobe CS4 or MS Access, the best desktop
database or visual studio or sql server. That is the best of Adobe and MS
but if you could it would cost $$$$ and you would have to put up with
product activation and all that crap.

Da LambChop Lies

Other than scanning negatives (a small issue since digital cameras) XSane
scanning software can scan multi pages into pdf files and the Windows
Epson software cannot.
