WHY does MS offer hardware driver updates...

when almost ALL the time, it's not a current driver
and breaks something?

NOBODY ever recommends that you let Windows Update
push hardware drivers to your machine, so WHY does MS
even do it?

Why not have a WU page that just checks to see where
you're at, driver wise, and if it knows there's a later version,
just tell you about it and provide a link to at the mgfr's site?

Seems like a much safer way to go.
