Can anyone help? My new (4 months old) iPaq 2200 keeps losing time (hours a
day, although not always consistently).

Batteries are new, fully charged...

Hi,

* Did you installed any third party app on your PPC which might be causing
this problem?
* Did you try a reset (soft / hard) ?

Do you have it set to sync the time with your PC? If you do and your PC
time is incorrect, whenever you sync the device the time will be changed
to the incorrect PC time.

No 3rd party apps. ALL of the obvious things have been checked...

I reset my iPaq 2-3 times daily...

Hi,

Backup your device and perform a hard reset. Don't restore it or sync it
with the computer for a short while and see if you are able to notice any
time loss.

Well, in that case, take a look the next time you cradle your PPC. Note the
time before you sync and shortly thereafter. You may have the timezones set
differently. For comparison my 2215 spends days off the cradle at times and
never loses a second. There's something set wrong, or it's broken. Has it
always done this, and it took you four months to complain or is this a
new thing?

Hi Sven,

As soon as I cradle my 2200, it immediately adjusts the time on my 2200 to
the correct time on my PC. It stays perfectly on time until after I
uncradle it, and leave it on, say, my nightstand overnight. I wake up in
the morning and its 20 minutes to 5 hours off (usually behind).

This is the third iPaq 2200 I've had in 6 months. Every time I complain to
HP, they've sent me a brand new one. There MUST be something wrong with my
settings, because I'm sure HP didn't build three in a row that had
hardware/firmware problems!

This is exactly what happens to me, only in my case I use the alarms on my
iPaq to remind me of critical medication I must take 4 times a day.
Needless to say, the iPaq's timekeeping problems have rendered this useless,
so I've had to resort to a $40 Casio watch with 5 alarms on it!

But I still want to solve my iPaq's problem. For $400, it ought to be able
to keep time as well as a $40 watch!

what warranty you have (as I think the default is 90 days) - sux to be you
