Possibility – Check in C:\Windows\inf directory for the file branches.inf.
Right click the file, check properties, and make sure that the read only box is not
checked.
Note that the inf folder is hidden and is directly under the Windows folder.
Quickest way to open is:
From Start/Run, type in the following exact text:
%windir%\inf
Then Press OK, and the folder will open.

You Cannot Install Some Updates or Programs “Digital Signature not found”
When you use the Windows Update Web site to install updates, the installation fails
and the Windows Update.log file contains error 80070643.
How to view the Update log in Windows
Open Internet Explorer and either type or copy and then paste this into the Address
bar:
%windir%\windowsupdate.log
Scroll down towards the bottom for the latest entries to locate the error code(s)
associated with the latest failed attempt/s. Post the error codes/update log in this
thread and perhaps someone or myself may be able to assist. Many read these post and
may have other suggestions.
