Why no British spelling

This is really annoying me, why does everything in Vista use American
spelling for British users?

What does personalize mean? What's color? What's the security center? Is
it really so difficult to give us our correct spellings when it's
available in 34 different languages? It's only a few minor changes but
they are important!

Will this be addressed in a future update or will millions of our
children be bought up with this Americanisation?

Even more annoying is that that windows mail's spell check runs in US
English even when you have a UK version of Office installed. Unless this
has now been addressed and I'm just not aware of it yet. I went into a
British shop and bought a British copy of the software, It wasn't cheep and
I don't think that expecting a spell checker to run in my native language is
too much to ask. The thing that ****es me off is that I'll freely admit
that it's a new operating system and that because of that diverse hardware
of the PC it's not gonna be perfect for a while yet. But basic stuff like
a proper spell checker should be sorted.

Also keep in mind that Microshaft is an American company. Even though
its Windows OS versions run many of the PC's on the planet, they tend
to forget small things about non-American users (and even some users
in the U.S. market). Small things like not everyone speaks English. (I
think they subscribe to the philosophy than anybody speaks English if
you speak slowly and loudly to them. Just watch Americans on holiday
in Europe.) Since there are few alternatives to Windows for average
users, they just couldn't care less as long as they can keep raking in
the profits on their bug-riddled bloatware.

Like all of the politicians running for the Presidency in 2008, your rants
are full of complaints, but absolutely no valid solutions. If you don't
like MS, don't use MS. There are no guns being held to your head nor are
your arms being twisted up behind your back.

Just bugger off and let those of us that do enjoy the Windows operating
systems try to work out some of the troubles others are having. Your
criticisms, like you nickname, are nothing special.

I never said I don't use MS systems myself; in fact I have used all of
them, beginning with the first MSDOS versions. I even enjoy using them
(well, most of them, anyway -- Microsoft Bob was kind of a turkey, and
Windows Me always seemed like a stopgap kludge) )despite the fact they
are sometimes convoluted, contradictory, and counter-intuitive in the
way they work. I also have several versions of Linux running, as well
as a couple of Macs. My comments were meant to address the points
raised by the OP. I just believe that MS is arrogant and really don't
care about their customers except as revenue sources. (Consider the
original Vista EULA that only allowed three activations.)

I can't offer "solutions," as you call them, since I am not a
Microsoft employee. But with all the versions of Vista MS has come up
with, and the amount of time they have controlled the majority of the
OS market, is it unreasonable to fault them for not having included
something as basic as regional language support?

But, to be fair, Vista ia a new system; it's exceedingly large and
complex and will undoubtedly be patched and service-packed as was XP.
Perhaps these changes will be incorporated, along with the inevitable
bugfixes that become necessary as time and experience turns up
problems.

Don't harbour hard feelings about 'Merican spellin'...while
anchored in American harbors.
Don't criticize your 'Merican neighbor's software either...they
are our neighbours too.
Don't sweat the little stuff...the big stuff is far worse.

Microsoft has many foreign language versions of Vista available. Name me
another software maker who even comes close. Name me another OS that
supports this many languages from the starting gate. I'm sure there is a
solution for your dictionary issues but whining and throwing around insults
isn't going to get you anywhere. Never forget, the forward thinking British
moved to North America a couple of centuries ago.

Yup, and natives who were not forward thinking, but clearly
civilised, saved them from starvation.
