Why there are 2 icons?

When my WLM is opened there are 2 icons at the bottom of the screen:
one is in the bottom taskbar and the second one in the systray.
Why do I need those 2 icons?
That is not the same as the other Windows programs.

Click on the systray icon and select 'Hide window when minimized'. If you
then minimize the window, the taskbar icon goes away.

Sorry, my mistake.
Apparently that is a normal behaviour.

I didn't think this was available in the latest version of WLM. Please tell
me I am wrong.

ISTR there was some hassle with systray icons in pre-release Win7. Was it
fixed in the final product? <ping Gary VdM and/or RC>
@WEDJr and jas: WLMail is the same regardless of OS, but how it works
depends in some respects on the OS - so please specify your OS (and your
version of WLMail) when posting.

It does, and you are. However, though this works fine on my laptop, which is
still running Windows XP Professional, and on a spare computer in the
garage, used as a mail server, and still running Windows XP Home Edition, it
is not working as expected on my desktop recently upgraded from Windows XP
MCE 2005 to Windows 7 Home Premium. Apparently a bug in Windows 7. Not even
a particularly annoying bug, to me, but a bug nevertheless.

In my WLMail in Win7, the SysTray icon is customizable. I have mine set to
Show icon & notifications. The icon changes when there is new mail. I can
also hide it completely. As other's have said, it may depend on your OS.

You may have to change the properties of the executable
(on the Compatibility tab) to run the program in Vista SP2 mode.
