Why are Vista Slide Show Themes not appearing in menu?

Hi all,

I'm running Windows Vista Business. When I run a slide show, I can
only select two themes, "Classic" and "Fade". Now I'm wondering why I
can't have all the other cool themes, such as "Pan and zoom" or
"Travel".

On their website, Microsoft say you need "a subscore of 3.0 for the
Graphics category in the Windows Experience Index. In addition, some
themes also require your computer's video card to have a feature
called Vertex Shader 2.0." [1] However, I do have an overall score of
3.2. (Graphics is 3.6, Graphics for Games is 3.2.) And I'm using a
Vaio VGN-SZ2M/B laptop with an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 graphics card,
which, according to NVIDIA's website [2] supports Vertex Shader 3.0.
(I've also upgraded my RAM to 2 GB.) Not even following the
instructions on a MSDN blog [3] and seting a WinSATScore value of 300
in the registry did the trick. So, I'm basically wondering why I can't
get my laptop to display slide shows the way I want them to be
displayed.

Any ideas as to what I might have to do to make some more themes
selectable?
Or are they simply not included in Vista Business?

Kind regards,

Christian

>>Improve your slide show's visuals

To use slide show themes, you need to have a subscore of 3.0 for the
Graphics category in the Windows Experience Index. In addition, some
themes also require your computer's video card to have a feature
called Vertex Shader 2.0. To take advantage of all slide show
capabilities, you might need to upgrade to a more powerful video card.

If your graphics score isn't at least 3.0, you can still get the full
set of themes (with the Premium or Ultimate SKU) by setting a regkey.
Keep in mind that there are no guarantees that they will run well!

Here is the info you need to set the regkey:
Key path is HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows Photo Gallery\SlideShow.
Type = DWORD Value
Name = WinSATScore
Value = 300<<

To answer my own question, additional themes are only available with
Vista Home Premium and Ultimate, it seems.
The "problem" can be solved however by installing Microsoft's Windows
Live Photo Gallery, which can be found at http://photogallery.live.com/
