Hi Lorin--
Your question: Is there any Vista compatible DVD writer that is cheap or
free?
You betcha. Goshdarnit. You Can't go wrong with Power Iso. It's shareware
which means they will prompt you to register, but it's very good and it's
free. There are a lot of others, but I use it to burn Isos all the time and
it does a great job and you can pick the speed from about 4 default choices.
It does a number of other things as well.
