Ok- here's my problem. Windows Update keeps tryign to install the same
update constantly, the update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service
(BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 (KB842773). It won't move past that update, and
install any recent updates. I had my computer in storage for the summer when
I went home from college, and I'm afraid my computer isn't up to security
standards. Any help?

I have the same problem. SUS keeps trying to update these
two patches constantly: Cumulative Security Update for
Internet Explorer 6 SP1 (KB824145)and October 2003,
Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1
(KB828750). I clicked YES to install then 2-4 hours later
it comes back up asking to install again. Does anyone
know what the fix for this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I have helped a few customers with this problem and all of them had some
sort of virus/trojans installed on their machines which were preventing the
updates from successfully installing.
I suggest that you scan your machine with a anti-virus software and clean-up
if it detects any viruses/trojans. After that try the update installs again.

If you dont have anti-virus software, there is a free download available
from
http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/

Please let us know if that fixes the problem

I am also getting the same problem. If I download the hot fix and install
manually I get an Access Denied error. I have local admin rights, and have
disabled my virus scanning and personal firewall. Would be interested in
getting this resolved. might have to wait for IE7 ;-)

Try uninstalling recurring updates via Add/Remove Programs and then
reinstalling. If that doesn't fix the problem, uninstall again and this
time reinstall manually via the catalog (see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=323166 if you're not familiar
with using the catalog).

I can't locate KB828750 nor KB824145 (the two updates that install every day)
in Add/Remove Programs under "Windows 2000 Hotfix - ..."
