why won't icon leave the screen

How do....new here. I normally don;t have a single problem with WINDOWS
UPDATE on 2000. BUT...last one done day ago is driving me nuts. It is
done...several times but icon keeps showing up on screen.

How can I get it to "go away"? I see its mentioned here but no answers come
up and I couldn't get this in in quesions I had to come here to NEW COMMENTS.

I am not that experienced a user.....so please help. Its driving me nuts!!!

I also am now stuck on three different 2000 server SP4 machines. One is
looping on successful installs of KB831167 and another two on KB832894

I tried deleting the Software Distribution directory and restarting but it
didn't work.

quick&dirty fix, you may try downloading
http://patch-info.de/IE/Downloads/Q867801-WUFix.zip
Extract the containing "Q867801-WUFix.reg". Afterwards double click the
REG file and let it merge into the registry. Finally shut down all open
IE windows and see if WU/AU still offers KB/Q867801, KB/Q832894, KB/
Q831167 and/or KB/Q823353.

The detection error seems to have been fixed right now.
Please try opening the Windows Update site once more and
scan for any needed updates.

Hi I am back.....I actually heard back from Microsoft on this issue.......BUT
the problem solved itself. It just went away? I t may have been a glitch by
ISP that day, not sure. I did print out the response just in case the thing
goes funny next time the update is on
