What kind of security encryption are you using at the router?
When I set mine up, I used WPA. My notebook connected OK, but couldn't
surf the web. It was like everything was so slow that IE just gave up
after a while.
For whatever reason, I backed the encription down to WEP, and
everything was immediately fine from that point on.
That was a week ago. I haven't checked to see if it was anything else
yet.
