Widnows Vista update

I have a problem, I try to run the update program to get vista updates and I
get a error message with code 80070057. Is there a problem with Vista update
right now or my Vista?

Try renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder

Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.

Rename the "SoftwareDistribution" folder: a. Click Start, click Run, type
%systemroot%, and then click OK.
b. Right-click the SoftwareDistribution folder, and then click Rename.
c. Type SoftwareDistribution.old, and then press ENTER to rename this folder.

Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment.

You'll lose your history but not important.

I tried this procedure and still get the same error. It seems to have
started after the latest Defender update, which I don't have access to now.
What else can I try?
