Win 2000 srevices.exe errors

In jan I started getting svchost.exe has generated an error and will be shut
down.
No problem, there were several svchost running.
Then about Mar I started ghetting services.exe has error status 128 and your
computer will be shut down. annoying but I was able to get my work done after
the reboot.. Now it has escalated until I got it 3 times in a row a few days
ago. and it seems to occur about half my attempts to sign on to the net. It
occurs just as Juno8 is connecting to the net. I think it is a coincidence
that it started soon after installing Norton systemworks.
Any suggestions deeply appreciated.

Every copy of svchost.exe has a unique function and all of them are necessary.

Scan your PC for malware, and remove all malware.

If that doesn't fix it, it's time to do a "Repair" re-installation of Windows.
