win 2000 update failure

Hi Folk, I have been trying to get updates from M'sof Update and it advises
me that " : Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered
or installed on your computer. "

I select the let microsoft automatically install the required programs and
it keeps going back to the same selection

Any ideas how I can get the updates working again please? I have Win 2k SP4
and using ie 6.0.2800 Sp 1.

One alternative is to download the Windows 2000 update files
manually. Go to:
