Win 7 Password Requirement

I realize this is a Vista NG but I can't find a Win 7 NG. If someone can
point me to one, I would appreciate it.
My computer is a stand-alone home computer, not networked to anything. On
boot-up, I am asked for my password. I provide it and all is well. How do
I eliminate that password request? Thanks for your time. Otto

Go to your user account and remove the password (leave the spaces blank).
You will have to use your password one last time to verify that you are
indeed the actual account owner.

As per the password? It's either the BIOS or Windows logon. Here's how for
both.

If it's the BIOS password:

The BIOS password is adjusted in the BIOS i.e. hit the Del key (or whichever
key is indicated e.g. sometimes F2) right when the computer is first
starting up. Once in the BIOS look for any security settings and or
passwords.

If it's the logon password in Windows:

-At a Command Prompt type in:

control userpasswords2

then hit Enter.

-Uncheck the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer" checkbox

-then click OK.

'Hope this helps. The Command Prompt is found in the Start Menu:

Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt

I don't have Win7 in front of me, but this should be controlled much
the same way it is in XP and Vista. Go to Control Panel, open the User
Accounts applet. The setting you want should be in there someplace.

He can also use my suggestion that I posted in the second reply - the
"control userpasswords2" thing. He keeps the account password but loses the
request.
