I have XP Home (32bit) in finnish. Can I buy a Win 7 UPG (in finnish) and
upgrade to 64bit in the same process?

( I know I have to make it dual boot, as I wouldn't have a printer under
64bit Win, as Canon fails to provide 64bit drivers for most of their stuff,
like my LBP-2900)

tumppi2 is: MSI K9A2 CF-F ver.1 m/b (BIOS 1.8) , AMD Phenom 8650 boxed,
2*2048MB Kingston Valueram, Club 3D 8600GT 512MB, 500GB+640GB (Samsung
HD501LJ + WDC WD6400AAKS SATA-HDs), LiteOn SOHW-1693S DVD+/-RW DL, TDK
CDRW321040B CD-RW, WT KM06 case, 420W PSU, add'l Nexus 80mm case fan.
OS: Windows XPhome (SP3 and all fixes)

tumppi3 is a laptop: Acer TravelMate7520-402G16Mi,
Turion58,2GB(2*1),2*160GB, DVD-RW
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium SP2, all updated

Externals: HDs: a WD Elements 1TB, homebuilt ext HD w/Samsung SP F1 1TB;
Canon LBP-2900B, HP F2180
el cheapo Wb-cam (no make or model)

Q. "I have XP Home (32bit) in finnish. Can I buy a Win 7 UPG (in
finnish) and upgrade to 64bit in the same process?"

A. No. You would need to perform a Custom (advanced installation).
Please see: http://windows.microsoft.com/upgrade...s-vista-custom
Note: A dual-boot would require a "full license" version of Windows 7.

Can I do a Custom installation from a "Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Edition FIN UPG" disk?
As said, it would be full install anyway, as I'm running XPh

OK, no dual boot (but two HDs so can BIOS-choose which to boot from)

XP upgrade to 7 is never supported no matter if 32 or 64..

Xp32 to Vista32 is possible ( XPHome to all Vistas´, XP Pro to Vista Bus and
Ult)
Xp64 to Vista64 also.

From Vista to 7 is again supported. 32 to 32 and 64 to 64.

32 to 64 is in every case a format of hdd and then clean install. 32 and 64
is totally incompatible, so the XP/Vista 32 cannot even execute the 64bit
setup.exe .. impossible - therfore it needs to be booted into a 64bit
environment from the CD and execute its programs within that setup
environment.

Correct. However, because it can save money for many people, it's
important to realize that you *can* use a Windows 7 Upgrade DVD to do
a clean installation *if* Windows XP is installed.
