Win 98se update problems

After a format and reinstallation of my win98se i could NOT update via the
msi update site ( http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/nl/default.asp )

After 1 week of searching i found a simple sollution ( not via msi )
go to the website of MSN
let the site do the installation of MSN Messenger 7**
You wil get an error msg saying you'r ie explorer is an old version and you
need version 6** to install MSN Messenger,
Click on the download link for msi 6**
Install, reset, and now do your updates via msi update site

This information helps, but seems you don't need to deal with MSN Messenger
7; if I'm not mistaken, it seems enough to download and install MS IE 6 SP 1
(its link is more simple to find), which installs also MS IE 6 itself
automatically. And if you have MS IE 6 (with or without SP 1), the Windows
98SE update works.
