My computer died on me (THINK it might have been SP2) and had to reinstall
everything. The problem is I already have the SP2 CD and am waiting a bit to
install it but the automatic update downloaded SP2. How do I NOT install the
SP2 from the automatic updates but still be able to install the OTHER
critical updates? I'm "afraid" to click on the install updates icon in the
task bar just incase it tries to install the SP2 which I don't want it to do.
Any help would be appreciated.

When you get to the Windowas Update site, click on Custom Install (not
Express Install).

You should then get a screen that offers SP2 and "Review and install
other updates" - Click on "Review Other Updates" button

That's good for the future, but the problem is that it has already been
downloaded to my machine and it's waiting for me to click on install. The
problem is how will I know if there are OTHER updates to install besides the
SP2. OR how do I get around NOT installing the SP2 from the automatic update.
