Hello,
I am interested in learning windows device driver development.
I stay in Pune, Maharashtra, India; completed Computer engg and working in a
software company.
Are there any windows device driver development courses available in or near
Pune?
I checked with many training institutes but they generally offer Linux
courses.
It will be great if you can suggest any courses for windows device driver
development.

Thanks and Regards,
Shri

What type of Windows device drivers? Just about every major device class has
its own driver model. What kind of device do you want to learn to write a
driver for? The most generic model is named WDM (Windows Driver Model), which
covers the most device classes, but certainly not all. Unfortunately, knowing
one driver model doesn't really help when it comes time to write a driver for
another device class. A good primer for learning about drivers is to read the
DDK documentation available on the Microsoft web site, as well as the PowerPoint
slides from the various driver-related conferences that Microsoft sponsors, such
as WinHEC and the Driver Developer's Conference.

I haven't heard of any companies based in India that teach Windows drivers, but
there may be. I have taught in more than 30 countries, and on every continent -
except for Antarctica - and would be happy to come to India, but there needs to
be enough students enrolled to cover our costs. On the other hand, we
periodically hold 'public' seminars that anyone can sign up for, usually in the
US or Europe, but occasionally in Asia.
