Win Update Errors

Whenever I try WIN UPDATE I get [Error number: 0x8DDD0018] which despite
following the instructions to enable BITS and Auto-update etc and saving, it
still reverts to the same error.

In addition, the problem has extended to installation of other software
(e.g. McAfee / Norton) - which is now failing as well?

Any suggestions?

I did follow those instructions i - it still happens though.

Could this be causing the other installations to fail?

McAfee's robots are no help at all - seem only able to get me to re-download
the install files from their servers?

Any other thoughts?

The winupdate still doesn't work but other instructions mean I can
re-install software again.
