I have a couple of pc's that are not taking the updates. both are XP and
both have servicepack 2. I can mouse over the shield in the systray and it
is hanging at around 14%. It will stay there forever. When I look in the
event viewer the updates have been failing for over a month. every day
around the same time there is a failure in the log. I downloaded mannually
and it says that it downloads them but had a failure on installation. I
picked out one small download on a custom install and it did the same thing.
It has happened to a second pc now so I know it is not only happening to me.
The 2 pc's are about 150 miles apart on a network. any ideas would be
appreciated. Danimal

Hello Dan,
If it is an install failure, you must find the actual Error notation ---
which would be in the log file.
Use Notepad or Wordpad and open & look at the Windows Update log file
C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log or C:\WINNT\WindowsUpdate.log

Scroll down all the way. Get / copy / paste back here the set of lines for
(today's ) the last session.
