Win Update killed my WiFi

I am running Windows XP Pro with service pack 2 on an IBM thinkpad with built
in intel WiFi 802.1g. I just did a Windows update of all recommended security
updates since October. It all installed without incident but it completely
stopped all my networking ethernet and WiFi. I eventually, disabled and
re-enabled all my network and theethernet started working again. The Wifi
however is still broken. My computer connects to the access point with a
strong signal, the mac filtering, firewall and enryption are all properly
setup and I even get some small amount of traffic but it seems like the
connection only allows a few bytes and then goes into wait and see mode. I
can load a partial webpage and then it just stops. Uninstalling the Windows
update patches seems to be messy business. Anyone have any idea what to do?

Have you visited www.thinkpad.com and applied all relevant updates?

And its nothing to do with my PC hardware / wirless router / modem/ whatever
(they continue to work fine with other my PCs that don't have this update or
are hardwired)
Only solution so far is to go back to a system checkpoint prior to the
update.. everything springs to life again then!
