Hi

Installing KB873377 might solve the problem:

An update rollup is available for Internet Explorer 6 SP1

well I had the same problem, and had done a very deep search trying almost
everything suggestions...However nothing worked for me..
I'm working at a university, and the IT department had installed my windows
(the same as the one installed on 1800+ PCs)...nothing worked...then they
installed WServer2003...again the same.

the last thing we did was plugging a second Ethernet card (the one I had was
onboard)....and BINGO
no problems with that 80072f78
(my sound strange, and Im not that expert to figure out how it worked, but
it did)
