Since i installed SP2 every few days the security centre loads on startup and
a message pups up in the system tray saying my firewall status is unknown - I
have checked the option saying that I have a firewall installed and i will
monitor it myself (I have Norton firewall installed) but i still keep getting
the popup every few restarts - can anyone help?

Hi

Have you tried this one:

Control Panel/Security Center, click on the "Change the Way
Security Center Notifies Me" link in the left pane.

Frequently asked questions about Windows Security Center
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=883792

If the "Change the Way Security Center Notifies Me" doesn't stick
when you reboot, or you want to disable the Security Center totally,
you can do the following:

Start/Run --> services.msc

Find "Security Center" in the list, double click on it, set
"Startup type" to Disabled.

Take a look at the options down the left side of the Security Center. Click
on "Change the way Security Center alerts me" and uncheck the Firewall
option.

You may consider going back into Security Center and turning off monitoring.
