This is an intermitent problem. I am running a fully up to date windows XP
system and Internet Explorer on a Toshiba Portege Tablet.

When I click on SOME links the new browser window opens but remains blank
and says "Done". Refresh and typing in or copying/pasting in the address has
no effect.

Have followed various conversations here and checked DLL
settings...everything reads as in order but still this problem persists. I
believe the problem started after installing SP2. Has anyone found a
solution to this known problem.

Mike

"Mike D"

I am sorry you are hitting this issue. This may not be the problem at all,
but I found this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=k...073&sid=global
related to PNG images

"Mike D",

What an education I am getting...

Please take a look at the following links:

Unless the links you are having trouble with are related to Windows
Update it would be more appropriate for you to have made this post
in the ie6.browser newsgroup.

One possibility is that the page contains a some kind of redirect
in either script language or in an HTML META HTTP Refresh directive.
In that case some of your Security options would be the cause of the
symptom by preventing that operation from taking place.
If you wanted to leave the options alone you could inspect the source
(e.g. press Alt-V,c) and then extract the necessary information
to construct the redirect URL manually in your Address bar and
continue from there. Etc.

Notice that in the preceding scenario simply refreshing or reentering
the original URL as you seem to have been doing is most likely just
to recreate the blockage that you either have to work around
(e.g, as described) or avoid by changing the security settings which
are causing it.

Good luck
