Win XP Update Doesn't Scan

when i run windows update on web, the scan button never shows. the page just
says below message. i just reinstalled xp because of this problem and it
persists even with a fresh install and my apps.

what can i check?

this program and opening the Windows Update site again. Be sure to enable your

Try registering the following:

Click Start, select Run and type:

regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 atl.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll


Press enter after each one and wait for the success message

Scott, if anyone ever helps you with this, please help me also. I have the
same problem you describe below. If it helps, the pc I have the problem with
was upgraded to XP from 98. Don't know if the problem existed with 98 too.
My other PC has no problem with the Automatic Update. The PC's are almost
the same, both Compaq. Problem PC has less memory and was originally Windows
98 now XP. The other one was always XP. If you get any help with this, let
me know .
