WIN2000 security updates download but do not update

"The following items failed to install" then the message says to try again.

The 1st time was 05/16/2005 KB894320. I tried it every other day or so and
the same. On 6/14/2005, checking for updadates, there were four additional
critical updates, KB893066, KB890046, KB896422, KB896358 and Cumulative
Security Update for IE 6 Service pack 1 KB883939 and for Outlet Express
Cumlative Security Update Service pack 1 KB897715. Total of 7. I did
review and install, they were downloaded and the last two for Service pack 1
installed. The other 4 + 1 did not install and displayed the message above
at the beginning for each of the critical updates.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Uhm, me too. I'm having the same problem. I've tried disabling my
active virus protection temporarily but no luck.

Count me in as well. I'm running AVG, MS AntiSpyWare and ZA.

Hi,

I found that even the installation failed, the update was still listed as
installed under Add/Remove Programs.

Removing it from there and installing the via Wiindows Update afterwards
worked fine for me.

Hope it works for all of you too.

I found the update for KB893066 in Add/Remove Programs but no others.
I removed the one but I'm still getting the same failures.

i rcvd the same general error for many of the same items you have listed.
None of them showed up as being installed. Go to "Windows Download" page and
search for each of the KB... items that failed and do your own download to
your C drive. Then quit all applications and click on the executable you just
downloaded and it will do its own stand alone install, offline. It worked for
me.
