I volunteer at the local school in the computer lab. On Tuesday
morning, 5/24/05, 11, win2k Prof computer's were in a continuous
reboot....they had done a microsoft update just that morning. Did a repair
on one using the CD and it took care of it. Returned Today, 5/26/05 after
research on the web....believed that SP4 was the culprit...and there were all
kinds of suggestions on the web....but a friend had a bad expereience with
KB835732 a couple of years ago...so with what i remember from my friends
problem and the more recent research I went in safe mode on the first
computer, i went to the install/remove program box...i saw my old friend
KB835732...and decided to uninstall just that update not the entire sp4...and
the computer restarted normally....and i did the same for all the other 10
and they are back to working...whew!! My friend's computer that had a
problem a couple of years ago is a windows 2000 and what happened to hers was
that the cpu activity rose to almost 100%. Why is that update still
downloading from microsoft if it is still causing problems?...that's my
question????

Hope this helps someone,
bes regards,
Harmony

That really has not much, I think, to do with the problems I have had but
has a familiar ring. Seems MS avoids discussing or really getting to the
nitty gritty of these type problems.
Best of luck!
