Win2k Rollup 1 causes floppy failures

We've just discovered that after installation of the Win2k rollup 1 for SP4
we can no longer reliably save files to A:

What happens is that, if you try to save a file (let's say 50kb or larger)
to the a: drive from Word or Excel it may work the first few times but
typically it will hang the application to the point you can't even kill the
task. I found that very small documents seemed to work more often than not.
The problem also shows up when saving from non-microsoft applications.

First I removed the virus scanner to be sure it was not interfering. It
makes no difference. When I removed the roll-up the problem goes away. When
I re-apply the roll-up the problem returns. I even rebuilt the workstation
with virtually nothing on it (just Office and Adobe). As soon as I applied
that one fix (Rollup 1 for SP4) the problem began again.

Is anyone else having this problem? I found nothing in the knowledge base.

===============================================
After applying this update, all our Windows 2000 machines were unable to
save Word XP docs to a floppy disk. ( I know, archaic method but what're ya
gonna do?)
They could save it as .rtf or any other format but not .doc. Some were
having trouble with Excel as well.

We did some troubleshooting and found that replacing fastfat.sys in
system32\drivers and system32\dllcache with the version in the uninstall
folder fixed the problem.

Hope this helps others with the same problem.

Tom
