Win2k3 says updates are ready to be installed, but "0 kb downloade

Hi, I'm getting error 0X80004002 in my WindowsUpdate.log. When I choose
"install updates" they all fail immediatly. When I try to scan for updates,
it keeps finding the same updates each time, but when I choose to Download
all the updates, it says its finished with 0 kb. Here's the portion in the

Take the six-digit KB number of the update that is failing, and search this
newsgroup for it. You will find many threads with solutions.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I'm not sure I understand though. There are about
15 updates that it says are ready to install, not just one.

Nevertheless, searching for KB number of a failing update or an error number
is a good start to finding potential solutions. In your case, if they all
have the same error number, then try this:

Open a command prompt window, and type the following commandes one by one:

net.exe stop wuauserv
regsvr32.exe wuapi.dll
regsvr32.exe wups.dll
regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll
regsvr32.exe wucltui.dll
regsvr32.exe MSXML3.dll
net.exe start wuauserv

Then try Windows Update again. You might need to restart Windows before the
fix takes.
