This seems to be a common problem as I have found by googling some. But I
have not come up with any solid answers. Our company has a Windows 2k3 SP2
server that is configured as a print server using the built in printmgmt
snap-in. We have about 100 or so printers on the server, mostly Lexmark's.
Everyone now and then I see a printer show "offline" in the queue status,
even though the printer is up and running properly. I have been able to
resolve the issue by just purging the printer and IP port, then setting it
all back up again. I have seen nothing in the event viewer that corresponds
to the specific printer going "offline". When this happens, it appears its
the same printer all the time, which tells me its more of a print device
problem than a OS or network protocol issue. Does anyone have any thoughts?
