Can anyone tell me if Microsoft Office XP is compatible with Windows 7 Home
Premium 64bit?

I need to know if the cost of my new laptop will be inflated by having to
get new software as well.

Most things in Office XP should work fine. I think there are a couple of
things that might be a problem, like a "print to fax" or similar option.
(Printer drivers have to be 64-bit, so any old built in printer drivers that
were specific to Office won't work. But I don't remember which, if any,
Office XP had.)

That being said, Office XP isn't supported any more, and I don't think
you'll be getting security updates for it. Plus I don't believe there's a
compatibility pack for it to handle the Office 2007/2010 file formats, so
you could run into some issues there if someone sends you a .docx file, say.
But they can easily change the output format to use the older file formats,
so that's not a big deal.

Partially. I don't believe Outlook will work?

Probably. Office 2003 should work and you may find it less expensive
than Office 2007.

The key word here is "almost". It's great for home use and just isn't
usable in a work environment because it messes up formatting.
