Hi,

I've read that Enterprise will allow you to boot to a VHD. How does this
work, does this mean I can create a WinXP/Vista VHD and then somehow boot to
this with Win7?

Thanks in advance, Andrew.

__________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 4346 (20090818) __________

Yes, but that isn't a VPC question, it's a Win7 question.

A quick search on the keywords "boot windows 7 from vhd" on your
favorite search engine will net you a lot of results.

Note that you can only boot Win7 and Win2008 R2 from a VHD, you can't
do it with Vista or XP.

Thanks for the help. Though it might be using XP Mode.

No problem. I use XP Mode for running older XP apps while in Win7 for
the most part, but when doing special testing, it's really easy to set
up a boot to VHD setup. It's quite handy to be able to boot the bare
metal from a VHD -- you don't have to worry about setting up special
partitions for dual booting, you just have to have a big enough
partition to contain the VHD's.
