Window Live Messenger - no sound?

Hi - I am having problems when making video calls - the recipients cannot
hear me although we can see each other and I can hear them. I have tested the
microphone / sound set-up etc. and it is working fine.

I recently had problems with viruses while using WLM and this has now been
cleared completely - but I wondered if it could have damaged part of the WLM?

What I wanted to find out is if this could be a broadband issue or if I
should try re - installing W Live Messenger? - Any help appreciated.

I had a similar problem. I used Video/Audio setup and all seemed fine,
but on a call no one could hear me. I discovered that my PC has
Microphone-In on the front, Line-In on the back. I'd plugged my
microphone round the back, for neatness.

I presume that Audio Setup uses both Microphone and Line-in combined,
whereas the actual messaging uses microphone only.

I have always used the mic jack on the back - it's just a laptop with a mic
jack and headphone jack on the back. - I am starting to think it could be a
broadband problem - but I would have thought this would effect the picture /
camera also - and email and internet service seems fine?
