Window Mail-can't send, receive, delete, or move folder to folder

Yesterday morning Windows Mail stopped functioning.

Trying to receive mail I get

An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'pop.broadband.rogers.com', Server:
'pop.broadband.rogers.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error
Number: 0x80004005

Trying to delete an existing message from any of my folders I get a popup
window saying `An unknown error has occurred' with an OK button followed by
another popup that says 'Deleting messages...' with a Cancel button. The
Deleting popup just sits and spins it wheels until I click the OK button on
the 1st popup and then both go away.

When I try to send a message to myself I get another popup saying `This
message could not be sent. An error has occurred.`with an OK button.

Last but not least, when trying to view the last message sent before all of
this started, I get an information screen saying
`Message cannot be found
The contents of this message cannot be found`

I've contacted my ISP and we've gone through all of the settings and
everything looks ok.

I AM able to access my email account via the web.

I've uninstalled AVG Free but still no joy.

Any ideas out there?

It sounds like one of the emails on the server may be corrupted.
In your browser go to your Rogers webmail portal and log in.
Then clean out all the folders in your webmail. If you want to save
any messages, create a new folder and move those messages to the
new folder. Empty the spam and thrash folders also. Close webmail,
then try Windows Mail again.

The difficulty with deleting messages is a separate problem.
Try running the various repair functions in the WMUtil program:
http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil
If no improvement, upgrade to Windows Live Mail:
http://download.live.com/wlmail

You can reinstall the AVG antivirus, but don't use its default install option.
Select 'custom' install, which then allows you to unselect installing its
troublesome email scanning module.

Gary, you are the man!

I did as you suggested and went into my mail through the web. Deleted or
saved what was in all folders. When I went back in through Mail, no error
message. However, when any new message was put up on the server's Inbox or
SPAM folder, the message came back.

So, I went to the WMUtil site and downloded wmutil151. I ran the Repair,
Compact and Clean options and, voila, everything is working again, i.e.
Send/Receive, Delete, Move, etc.

Thank you!!!
