I too get this error message after Media Player 11 fails to install, but I am
using regular XP Pro.

I would of course like to know how to get this download installed, but have
run into nothing helpful as far as what is causing this error, and how to fix
it.

How many questions must be asked about this before even 1 is answered ? Even
if the answer is I don't know !!!!!

"I don't know" is rarely a useful answer, particularly if everybody were to
respond at once. :-)

I've always thought they were slightly off-topic and that
posters would probably drift away to a newsgroup which
specialized in WMP. <eg>

However, I can give you my standard answer for such
vague symptom descriptions: an error code without any
context is usually useless. Search for some context for
the code. It may help to convert the hex code to its
decimal equivalent and try searching for that as well.

So, just for grins...

Nope.

Ah, but prefixing the hex value OTOH does pay off...

(Live Search for
0xD2AF8
)

<quote>
If the value is 0xD2AF8 NS_S_REBOOT_RECOMMENDED),
then that means that either some further file clean-up will
appear on reboot (no need to account for) or that a device
driver has been installed and will not be functional until
system reboot (which is of course only of interest if you
need a device driver, such as the Adaptec/Roxio CD Burning
Plugin).

Looks like you need to reboot... ; )

Good luck
